I help healthcare professionals, and other caregivers, to more effectively interact with people living with dementia!

I particularly desire to help therapists effectively rehab patients living with dementia!

My name is Cindy Keehn. I have practiced physical therapy for 30+ years with the past 15 focusing on geriatrics in skilled nursing. I know desperately the patients living with dementia  need our skills to enhance their quality of life, yet we encounter so many challenges inherent in their care. I have seen the benefit of the Positive Approach to Care model. I am passionate to share this with rehab and other healthcare professionals through Engaging Dementia Effectively, as well as equip families and caregivers within the home.

I am a Certified Independent Trainer with Positive Approach® To Care, and an Enhanced Trainer too!

The Postive Approach® to Care program, developed by Teepa Snow, strives to use the skills retained by the person with dementia while supportively adding the caregiver's skill for what is no longer available. This will radically change your approach to dementia care.

What is so different about this approach?

  • We focus on whatever brain functions remain, NOT what has been lost.
  • We focus on making a personal connection to do WITH, rather than TO, the patient.
  • This approach easily adapts to the level of assist as the stages change.
  • And yes, it really does ENGAGE these patients!

FAQs

What makes PAC™ trainings different than any other dementia class?

PAC™ trainings teach the HOW to deal with the progressive  brain changes associated with dementia . Many other dementia classes deal more with the WHAT  is happening within the brain. Engaging Dementia Effectively (EDE) PAC® training bring BOTH of these together in a memorable, practical, and  applicable manner to use with your rehab patients tomorrow!

Do I need to be PAC™ Certified to really use these skills?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! The intentions of these trainings with Engaging Dementia Effectively (EDE) are to get you implementing this approach and skills immediately with your patients! Of course the PAC™ organization offers much more techniques with certifications to learn, apply, and share if you might choose to grow further.

Is Cindy a PAC™ employee?

Although Cindy is Certified through the Positive Approach® to Care organization to lead these teachings, PAC Certified Independent Trainers  are NOT employees of Positive Approach, LLC. The opinions and views expressed by PAC Certified Independent Trainers  do not necessarily reflect the opinions and views of Positive Approach, LLC or any of its employees.  Positive Approach, LLC is not liable for any actions by PAC Certified Independent Trainers
